Root Canal Treatment | Endodontics is the study and treatment of the tooth’s interior or dental pulp. Mayani Dental Group is one of the top endodontic care providers in Massachusetts. We offer a wide range of endodontic services, each designed to save your teeth while treating pain.
When to See an Endodontic Specialist
Root Canal Treatment | Endodontists provide highly specialized dental procedures. So, while the majority of dental symptoms don’t require the expertise of an endodontist, there are a few situations that make it a necessity for residents to see an endodontic specialist. These include:
- Dental pulp infection; often signaled by sharp and unbearable tooth pain
- Tooth nerve damage resulting from traumatic injury
If you’re experiencing severe tooth pain don’t hesitate, contact a dentist for endodontic care today.
Here are some of the services we can offer to patients suffering from pulp damage.
Root Canal Surgery. If you’re experiencing severe tooth pain, it could be caused by dental nerve damage or infection. Mayani Dental Group can stop the pain and prevent the infection from spreading by performing a root canal procedure. Doing so involves removing the infected pulp at the root of your tooth and using dental filling to seal the canal.
Endodontic Therapy. There are several nerve endings at the root of your tooth. Unfortunately, it’s fairly easy for one or all of them to become infected. And although rare, it’s possible that a root canal leaves some of the damaged nerves in your teeth. In the unlikely event, this occurs, there’s a high risk that the infection returns. Endodontic surgery is a treatment option we offer to remove the infection. It involves removing the tip of the root of the infected tooth and then replacing it to prevent further infection.
Endodontic Retreatment. Ideally, successful root canal treatment should maintain your teeth for a lifetime. However, this isn’t always the case. For example, if a tooth that has undergone root canal fails to heal completely, the pain could flare up again within months of the initial surgery. When this happens, we perform endodontic retreatment by removing the restorative materials used during the first root canal and clean of the canals before resealing them with new restorative materials.
